2023 Memorial Day Parade

On Saturday May 27th, the Village of Luther held it’s annual Memorial Day parade beginning at 11:00 a.m. from the Luther Lions Club on State Road.

The Parade was led by the Lake County Color Guard. Followed by the Pine River School Marching band, the Luther Lions Club Float, Luther Volunteer Fire Department and several smaller floats and vehicles.

Several hundred people lined the streets for the event. Children always appreciated the American flags handed out as well as the candy and beads thrown from the floats. The Pine River High School Band did an outstanding job of playing the Hymns from the Marine Corp, Air Force, Navy and Army. Finally, they did a presentation of our National Anthem, The Star Spangled-Banner.

At the Veteran’s Memorial, the Honor Guard hoisted the flags of our nation and military services, blew taps and presented a 21-gun salute to all our veterans that have fallen. Reverend Pastor John Martek, from the Luther Church of Christ, gave the invocation for the parade service.

After the parade, a lunch was given in the Lions Club Hall to all those participating in the parade.

Luther’s next and biggest parade will be held on Saturday July 1st for the annual Luther Days 4th of July celebration that weekend. Fireworks will be on display Sunday, July 2nd at dusk, weather permitting.
